Responding to the Entrepreneur's ENTREPRENEUR

❓ What response from Jesus' Entrepreneurial Apprentices was He desiring?

Jesus and His "Entrepreneurial Apprentices" just put in a hard day's work on the shoreline and He gives the command to take their business to the other side of the sea. He entrusted their travel plans to His capable and skilled apprentices and quickly fell asleep. Not long into their evening sail they encountered a fast and furious storm.  The boat, filled with all 13 men, began to take on water and it appeared that unless something happened fast they would submerge and drown. They abruptly woke up their Lead Entrepreneur, Jesus, and sought His help. He did indeed solve the "Stormy Problem" then quickly turned to His team and asked 2 tough questions of them expressing His concern with the way they handled the situation.

Read the episode below and ask yourself, how would you have addressed the circumstance to gain Jesus' approval?

[Mark 4.35] On that day, when evening came, He *said to them

“Let us go over to the other side.”

[36] Leaving the crowd, they *took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him.

[37] And there *arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. [38] Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they *woke Him and *said to Him

“Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

[39] And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea

“Hush, be still.”

And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. [40] And He said to them

“Why are you afraid?

Do you still have no faith?”

[41] They became very much afraid and said to one another,

“Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”

  1. He desired that they would speak to the storm themselves and silence its voice, even if they could not silence its violence. The voice which lies…saying God does not care for you…the voice which says your end has come prematurely before you finish your purpose on earth…the voice which ridicules us for following Jesus…the voice which reminds us of our weaknesses…the voice which creates fear; to rob us of our peace. Rise up saints, silence the voice of the devils storm even as you are sinking. This is the calling; King David rose in his youth “as he was” not to fight Goliath, but the voice thru Goliath which claimed his end was imminent, undoing all that God had appointed David to be; and the shouting of Pharaoh to the women and mothers who beheld the beauty of Moses, before he had grown up as a redeemer in the land; and the voice of Herod ranting that Jesus to be snuffed out as a child before he could rise to serve humanity’s need as our King; the disciples too would die, but not on that boat, not before they fulfilled all they were appointed to; God be praised. His peace is ours. His love is certain.
